Our Trip to London
Bericht von der Bili-Fahrt im Herbst 2024
Trip to London: Day 1
The day of our departure started at 4 am in Willich. We all went into the bus and started driving all the way to France – Dunkirk. It took about 6 hours. After 6 hours, we went to the ferry to go another 3 hours with it. As we crossed the English border, the time directly changed, and the clocks went back an hour. After the ferry, we took the last bus ride to London. The bus driver showed us some sights – Big Ben for example, or the London Eye, or the London Tower.. After our arrival at our hostel ‘The Generator’ and check in, we started to walk around the surrounding area to discover a bit. We went to King’s Cross station and took some pictures. After that, we went back to the hostel and just kind of chilled for some time. At 8:30 pm, we got dinner ready and then we went back to our rooms to get some sleep.
Trip to London: Day 2
Today the day started at 8 am with a really tasty breakfast. After that, we got ready to go into the city to Buckingham Palace by Tube. Once we arrived there, the weather was rainy and we had to wait in the park to get food-money from the teachers for the next few days. As we arrived at Buckingham Palace, we took some pictures – one of which was the group photo in front of the Victoria Memorial, which has a long tradition on the Bili-trip.After that, we were allowed to walk in small groups around the city to visit some sights. A group of some students even went to the Arsenal-Stadium with Mr. Roßkothen and it was really fun. After that, we all walked to Big Ben together through St. James Park and it was a great experience, since a scene from my favourite TV show was filmed there and it was amazing. After visiting Big Ben, the group and Mr. Roßkothen went to Chinatown. But before that, we took some pictures in front of the London Eye. When we headed our way to Chinatown, we firstly arrived at Trafalgar Square. We were surprised how gorgeous and huge it was. Arriving in China Town, we looked out for a restaurant and found one, where we ate Chinese noodles which were intensely good. Like really good. Sadly, our time was over really fast and we had to head back to Trafalgar Square to meet the others. As the evening hit, we all got ready for the musical “The Lion King”. And to be honest, it was an experience I never expected to have the pleasure of enjoying. It was like experiencing the story real time.Definitely something I would recommend to anybody who enjoys the theatre.
Trip to London: Day 3
Today the day started again with a tasty breakfast. At about 10 am, we got ready for our trip to Brighton. The bus ride took about 2-2:30 hours, since Brighton is at the beach side of England. After the bus ride we finally arrived. First of all, we went to the beach to look around a bit, to take some pictures of the sights and everything around. We then walked to the “Royal Pavillion & Garden” in Brighton. After that, we walked through the garden park to the inner city, where we were allowed to go in small groups around Brighton. Good things I can tell about Brighton are that they have a load of shopping streets there. It is impressive how many cute secondhand stores there are. Some students decided to visit Brighton Pier and enjoyed the fun fair, some fish and chips and a ride on the roller coaster. We went back, and I was really exhausted but relieved to finally sit in the bus again to go home. At about 7pm (still sitting in the bus) we started playing some card games. As we finally arrived in London again, the bus driver told us about the biggest skyscraper in Europe – The Shard. By the time we arrived in town at the hostel, the last few minutes before going back to the hostel we were allowed to go in small groups around the hostel and the streets of King’s Cross. After that, we finally went back to the hostel to get some well-deserved rest and sleep. It was exhausting, but a good day for the middle of the trip.
Trip to London: The last day.
We woke up at about 7:30 to get ready for breakfast. The plan for today was to go to the National History Museum, and after that to shop a bit at Oxford Street. And so we did, we ate our food and got ready for the day. At about 10, we went to the museum by underground. As we arrived at about 11, the teachers told us that we had about 2 hours to explore the museum, and at 1pm we should get back so we could walk through Hyde Park to Oxford Street. And so we did. Me and my small group of four went through the museum and took some photos of things that interested us. All you hear about it, is that there are dinosaurs and distinct animals or extinct species, but there is far more: They had everything from fossils and dinosaurs to even the tiniest of bugs. Even a model of the huge solar system was presented. It was really impressive!! Sadly, we didn’t see everything since we had to get back to the spot where we’d meet with the teachers to walk through Hyde Park to Oxford Street. But that was also really funny. The Hyde Park was extremely huge and really beautiful. And after an hour of walking, we finally arrived at the huge Oxford Street. It looked gorgeous how beautifully decorated the streets were. There were stars hanging off the strings and it gave the street a nice touch. I wonder what it looks like in the wintertime. But the first store I went to, was “The HMV shop” This shop is a huge shop with everything music themed. They have CDs, records, T-shirts (like lots of band T-shirts), movies, games, etc. And I felt like in heaven. We then walked along the street more and slowly started looking out for food and stuff. At about 4pm again, we thought: Hey, let’s go to a Vapiano to get food there. But then we realised that we had to pay online there and no one of us could do that, so we just left and got our food at “Pret a Manger”. The day went by pretty fast, and at 6pm we went back to the hostel to get ready to go home again. After we all packed our stuff, we left the hostel at 8:30 and went to the bus.We put our stuff in there and got ready for the long ride we would take to get home. I was lucky I could get some sleep but most of the time I slept on the ferry. The ferry ride took 2:30 hours. But after that I didn’t manage to sleep anymore so that meant I had been awake from 3 am to 9 when we arrived in Willich. And this was it. The trip to London overall I can say: it was a damn great experience!! P.S. We have created scrapbooks of our wonderful trip which will be shown at the open day. We are looking forward to welcoming you there to present our journey. London trip travel blog.
